Dermal Filler Injection Training
OVERVIEW
This course for dermal filler injection training is offered 1-1. The topics covered are:
- A general overview of the anatomy and physiology of the facial aging process as it apples to the skin
- Various types of temporary dermal fillers currently used on the market
- Solid understanding of the consultation and treatment processes specific to each individual client
- Proper injection techniques
- Preparing for adverse effects
- Practical demonstration of technique
- Treatment areas covered include lip and cheek augmentation, nasolabial folds, melomental folds, fine lines, tear troughs and jaw contouring
- Two-day intensive
- 1-1 training
- Multiple injection opportunities on live models

SYLLABUS
Basic dermal filler injection training is broken down into two sections, with the morning being designated to the didactic and theory portion and includes the following:
- Overview of the history of dermal fillers
- Overview of different brands/ types of dermal fillers, FDA and Health Canada approval
- Overview of the properties and mechanism of action of dermal fillers
- Overview of facial anatomy and indications for use of dermal filler
- Overview of proper injection techniques and review of the following techniques;
- Bolus, linear threading, fanning, serial puncture injections, antegrade, retrograde, layering and cross hatching
- Understanding of a thorough consultation process with emphasis on realistic client and treatment expectations
- Review of contraindications, risks and benefits, emergency protocols and procedures
The afternoon and second section of the basic dermal filler training is designated to practical learning and includes the following:
Smoothing fines lines, volumizing/filling deeper creases/folds, enhancing and contouring facial features using temporary hyaluronic acid dermal fillers in the following treatment sites:
- Lip augmentation and definition
- Cheek augmentation and contouring
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines/ melomental folds
- Jawline contouring
- Fine lines/ laugh lines
Also covered are:
Client Consultations & Assessment and ready-to-use forms
Participants receive a printed training manual.
